Getting There

This is an out-and-back hiking, biking, and horseback riding trail through Reynold's Creek Canyon in the Wilson Creek Travel Management Area of the Owyhee Front.

The nearest facilities are in Walter's Ferry, about 8 miles by road from trailhead.

Use trails W310, W600, and W610 for this out-and-back. For the loop including W510 and W410, see the AllTrails entry for China Ditch Loop. Bring extra water, as there is not much shade along most of this trail. As usual, watch out for dangerous wildlife native to the Owyhees. Hiking poles are helpful, but not necessary. Do not drink the water in Reynold's Creek, as the canyon is downstream from several cattle ranches and may contain waste materials. Be aware of other hikers, bikers, and horseback riders using the trails.

Disclaimer: Do not attempt to access this trailhead without a high-clearance, AWD/4WD vehicle. The roads to the trailhead are sandy, rocky, and uneven. -From Highway 78, turn west onto Wilson Creek Road. -At 1.4 miles, turn left (south) onto Road 37154. This is where the roads become primitive. A large cattle feeder ranch will be on your right as you drive down Road 37154. -At 1.7 miles, continue right (west) on Road 37154. It will immediately bend back south. -At 1.9 miles, continue right (west) on Road 37154 again. -At 2.5 miles, the road bends south again and becomes Road 37163. -At 2.9 miles, turn slight right (southwest) to continue on Road 37163. -At 3.3 miles, continue straight across the smoother Road 37156. -At 4.1 miles, continue up and over a crest where there are several good places to park. Diligent drivers can continue down Road 37164 to park closer to the canyon entrance.

beautiful canyon hike along the creek. not a lot of cover from the sun when we went, but it was fine in cooler weather. Saw a few other groups out there enjoying the trail, mostly mountain bikers, but it still felt like a nice remote escape.

The canyon is beautiful and well worth the trip. The road to get there is kind of insane though, my Ford Focus barely made it, and I had to be super creative with how I drove. There’s a nice little spot where you can walk down to the creek for your dogs to take a drink and cool down their paws too!

First to Review

Better than I expected. The canyon is beautiful and the trail system is well-maintained, although the road to get there is pretty rough in some spots. After a few miles in the canyon, the trail fades into the landscape.
