The directions will take you straight to the parking lot of the trailhead. It can be confusing because the road cuts through private property, but keep following the road and you’ll end up in the right place! Warning that the road to get there is a bit bumpy/rocky.

This is an incredibly beautiful and challenging trail! I clocked 8.8miles. I did the trail on 11/12/20. Lot’s of snow and not a soul out there! Hope to get back again in the spring to see how different it looks. What a treat this was!

The directions from AllTrails takes you straight to the parking lot of the trailhead. It can be confusing because the road cuts through private property, but keep following the road and you’ll end up in the right place! Warning that the road to get there is a bit bumpy/rocky and there are parts where you have to drive off road to get around a fallen tree or a hole. Overall, my watch clocked this hike at 9.2 miles roundtrip. The majority of the hike is fairly easy (some gradual uphill). However, the last mile is very steep (you climb the last ~1000ft in the last mile) so be prepared for some exercise at the end! Ended up taking ya 6hrs total with a stop for lunch at the top. The trail was easy to follow the entire time and was well maintained. The views of the creek and the mountains are incredible the whole time! There were still a lot of wildflowers out when we went. Although the last part is steep, seeing the view from the top and exploring the pioneer cabin definitely made it worth it. Overall an awesome hike!

Great November hike. Got to trailhead 10:30am and we were in the sunshine the entire way to the top. Very easy hike along the creek for about 2.5 miles then you switchback it straight up. Easiest way to pio cabin of the other trails I’ve taken. Used poles coming back down from the top, steep and icy for a little stretch.

Backpacking

Made a mistake and ended up on this trail on accident. My daughter and I were supposed to be on #166 but I apparently missed that trailhead. To make a pretty long story short, I had to abandon a lot of gear on that last stretch of the trail. As much as I would like to get it back, it would be a fitting reward for anyone who would be willing or able to get out there and clean it up. Thank you and God bless I made it back up and even got all my stuff back. This was a pretty great trail to find by mistake but beware that it is a steep one especially once you start hiking toward the peak.

Running

This trail has some spectacular views, but the switch backs to the cabin make for a gnarly hike. Bring plenty of water
