If you're heading north towards northern Idaho from the Boise area, definitely take this route (Hwy 55) rather than Hwy 95. Even though 95 may get you there quicker (negligible), this drive is well worth the extra couple minutes. The drive along the Payette gives you a glimpse of world class white water, beautiful forests, and opens up into a beautiful mountain valley.
