This is not a hiking trail, this is a kayaking/canoeing route along the Pack River.

We do this water trail once or twice a year and love it! Best put in location (IMO) is Colburn Culver bridge with take out at Pack River Store. Expect a 2-2.5hour float on this section with beautiful scenery, sandy beaches, great swimming holes. BTW Pack River Store is excellent for a meal afterward. If you do the lower section from Pack River Store to Highway 2, be prepared for a fun rope swing swimming hole and some rowing effort at the end as you get closer to the lake.

This is not a hiking trail. This is a canoe or kayak route. Best to do this some time between late spring and late summer. I did this in mid-August, and the water level was almost too low. Be advised that the current is strong enough that you might consider having a pickup strategy downstream, rather than trying to fight the current back.

This is a kayak/canoe/float - NOT A HIKE! Accessible May - Mid/Late July. At end of July expect to walk your raft through shallow/sandbar spots.

Terrible!! Initially, we missed the turnoff as it's not makes at all. As far as the spot itself, Maybe if you were canoeing it'd be great but for walking, this place was the worst!! There are thorny bushes everywhere, dust comes up wherever you step and you're constantly getting whacked in the face with tree limbs and dry brush as you walked. The paths are not well pushed down and at one point come so close to the river I was a little worried my kids might slip and fall in. We'll never be back. What a waste.

Had a great time. Me and some friends headed to the pack river store grabbed some sandwiches and cruised across the street under the bridge to launch our kayaks, and canoe. From the store out to the highway where we had a second vehicle staged it took us about 4.5 hours, keep in mind this was more of a float trip with many stops. Great scenery, wildlife, etc. be warned water is a bit chilly this time of year(April 20) I found that out the hard way on a new small kayak!!

The Pack River flows through a tranquil green valley with small side ponds further downstream. There weren't any other people canoeing the day we went, it is lightly used in general, except maybe for fishing. We saw a moose near the take-out. Treat yourself to a burger at Buck and Edna's, about ten miles up the Pack River from where the pavement ends.
