HikingGreat!

We did this trail first thing in the morning, and only crossed paths with a few other hikers. Nice views. A good climb, nothing too extreme, with some flat sections for a break. I’m looking forward to doing this trail when the trees have bloomed. The road to get there was a nightmare lol.

Good trail with nice scenery and some water. Did it Easter weekend with the wife and kids and they were able to go halfway and then we turned around. Temperature was about 71 degrees and sunny so it was perfect and the ridges are still white with snow under the trees making for great pictures. Road is definitely bumpy getting there though.

HikingGreat!

I’m not sure I trust these ratings as this was rated moderate and I felt it ranks more as an easy hike. Another hike, Cinch Creek, is rated moderate and it was a beast! All that aside, this is a wonderful relaxing hike with just a few spots of uphill, which weren’t too bad. We hiked to miles out and 2 back and enjoyed every bit of it. Beautiful views, several opportunities to see Boise in the distance. We stepped off for bikers a couple of times and a few sets of other hikers but overall, were solo on the trail. I have added this to my list of favorites.

Hiking

This is an enjoyable hike. The trailhead is not far from Boise, which is nice although you will travel a few miles on a dirt wash-boardy road, so your vehicle will get dirty. As stated before the path is sandy and well defined and there was a lot of dog poop, but that didnt detract from the hike in my opinion. The views are wonderful and this trail (and 5 mile trail nearby that you can connect to if you wanted ) are both natural meaning no homes or businesses around, just scenery, so you relish the feeling of being away from it all. And that isolated feeling, was enhanced by the lack of other hikers. I hiked September 27 around noon and had to step off the path maybe four times for 1 hiker, 2 sets of bikers and a young family. The trail is just super cute. It lies next to a little valley thick with trees and bushes then crosses a little drainage-type creek twice, almost dry when I passed. But both times there was a shady tree tunnel which I just love. The path at points was edged with tall grass about 4.5 feet high. The trail snakes along the hillside and climbs up, giving way to beautiful vistas! At one point, between the hills, I could see Boise in the distance but other than that, the views were natural-rolling hills with tree filled valleys. I saw a lot of birds, not birds of prey, but little ones that I kept startling as I walked past, and there were others just flitting around. I saw no snakes, but a few little lizards. I didn't encounter any pests. 4 stars because desert is not my favorite landscape, but there was enough green and bushes and mix of landscape to make this trail pleasant and fun. It is rated easy but there is enough of a climb to get a fairly good sweat going. Enjoy! There are many places along the hike, that you'll want to stop to savor the beautiful view!

Great 3.2 mile hike. There is about 3 miles of dirt road till you reach the trailhead, so vehicles that can offroad may have an easier time, but it is still doable by any car! The hike itself is beautiful. A fairly easy incline, with a couple shaded areas and showed a great view of rolling hills and various shrubbery. There is also a little creek where my dog stopped and played in!

Great short hike! Drive in is a bit gravely, but easy to drive. Few parts have small creek crossings. Gorgeous end view! Easy to do on a week day.
