The Southside Loop Trail appears to have much more visitors than the Headwaters Trail portion of this loop. For hikers, the entire loop does not have any uphill portions that are too strenuous. For mountain bikers, you certainly have my sympathy on some of the Headwaters Trail loop. Some of those uphill parts look like there will be a lot of hard pedaling involved. That said, the ruts in the trail bear testament to the popularity of this trail with mountain bike riders. As for the Southside Trail, at present, there is some heavy equipment working in the area. They appear to be putting in some drain pipes. There is a 1/4-1/2 mile portion of the trail that is a muddy mess, but still passable. Part of this trail consists of dirt road, but connects to lovely footpaths that wind through pleasant forest and wild flowers.
