This Guide starts where the pavement ends on the Warren Wagon Road from McCall, Idaho. Here, at the "Y", the graveled Warren Wagon Road continues all the way to Warren, Idaho. The graveled road to the north, goes to Burgdorf, Idaho and on to the Salmon River. There is parking space for several trailer rigs on the south side of the "Y". It is 16 miles to Warren from here. The road is good all the way to Warren with only a few blind switchback curves. FR 359 is suitable for high clearance vehicles, but 4X4 is better. All the meadows are prime viewing areas for wildlife with dawn and dusk being the best viewing times. The meadows are green in July and August. This whole area has been burned by lightning caused forest fires several times over the last 20 years.

The trail on the map that goes east and then south from the Minnehaha Mine does not exist. It has been closed for years.

A beautiful mountain area to explore, and lots to explore. Camp here for a week or two and you still won't see all the trails.
Another fine job....

We visited the area in 2013 and explored two more old gold mines. I added three more POI's and more photos to this guide.

One of the mines had several structures. Both had old mining equipment.

Friends fished Bear Lake in July, 2012 and reported the lake is full of stunted brook trout. This is a fairly common occurrence with lakes with brookies.

They also advised the road uphill to Keystone Meadows was rough and somewhat washed out. They said it is a better ATV road than a full sized vehicle road.
