Beautiful trail with mini creeks to cross along the way. Watch for motor cycles on the trail as well (dirt bikes).

Bugs

Hiked this mid-July and camped 2 nights at Marten (spelled Martin at the trailhead) lake. The lake was beautiful and trail was great! Unfortunately the mosquitoes were nearly enough to carry off a small child, so we all ended up thoroughly chewed on even with bug spray. Catch and release fshing was good, but we never caught anything over 10 inches. Did a day hike to Kelly lake and the mosquitoes were not nearly as bad there

BackpackingBugsGreat!MuddySnow

Backpacked to Marten Lake which was really nice. Snow was still melting so lots of mosquitoes and a few muddy spots near the top. There are 2-3 fire pits near the trail intersection and another nice one another ~100m beyond. Also this trail (loop) has recently been opened to dirt bikes and mtn bikes so there is more traffic. Looked like a really enjoyable (if technical) mountain bike trail.

Hiked 5/30/2020. At mile 3.2 just past the wooden bridges the trail is completely snow covered. The lake was about 1/2 frozen.
