The road to the trial head was still buried in some snow (April 12), about a mile out. We hiked through it, and all the way up to the top. it was tons of fun, and I might recommend snow shoes, but we were fine in tennis shoes (though it was quite a workout! ). We also saw some bear tracks but didn't see any bears. I totally recommend this hike, and would love to see what it's like without all the snow!

There are 2 places to park for the beginning of this hike. There’s a little pull off right before the big open field where you hop over the fence or past the starting point is a gravel area that you can turn into and park. Walk back to the beginning and start walking through the big grassy open area. Follow the trail straight up. If you feel like you’re lost, we had cell service, so we followed the recording for the trail till we knew we were going in the right direction. After hiking straight up or following the snowmobile trails you’ll reach a cell tower (about 45 mins. Into the hike) pass the call tower and keep following the trail. You’ll come to another fence that you’ll need to jump and you’re almost there!! The end has amazing views and if you’re into geocaching there’s a new one there - out in the open!

DO NOT follow the directions (driving directions) for this hike it takes you to Riverview Cemetery in St Anthony wrong hike. So we will take the “walk” today and find the real hike another day

Parking is either a pull out just before the trail head or a small little dirt area just after. My dog and I took this trail, the steep-at-first way up, and then it follows the snowmobile trails pretty much the rest of the way. Had to cross two fences each way, one right at the beginning and another after you pass by the cell tower. Loved the views at the end but we didn’t stay too long because my dog was quite tired from the grade at the beginning and the sun. Followed the snowmobile trails at the bottom on the way down instead of this path because they’re not as steep. Sunday afternoon and only saw two other groups on the trail!

Walking

Steep in the beginning. You can take a longer less steep route, which is what we did on the way back down. The views were very nice from the top. Our soon to be 5 yr old was able to do it, but not without a few complaints on the way back.

Lovely! I took my 5 yr old up with easy expectations and it was so easy for us that we branched out and went all around the area on harder trails. There was great cell service so we were able to follow this app the whole way and feel confident of the way back. Bathrooms at the bottom were what you’d expect from an outhouse - kinda gross. We saw less than a handful of other people from 9-12. Highly recommended.

This is a nice hike not too far from Idaho Falls. It took me and my dog a little over an hour with some breaks. I added this area to google maps offline and it made navigating the different ski slopes/paths easy. Once you get past the radio tower, there’s not very much shade, and the trail turns to atv. The peak has a nice view on a clear day.

First to Review

Wild flowers were great, Idaho hasn’t ever been so green. The vistas were great for the shortness of the hike. The elevation gain is all in the first half mile straight up an ATV trail. Some switch back options available. The remaining trail is a ridge line trail.
