Jump Creek Falls Trail is a 0.6 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Marsing, Idaho that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This trail is highly recommended, especially if with children. There are plenty of neat caves to see and in the summer, users love the swimming once at the falls. This is a very family friendly trail, and should be used by most users thanks to the short distance. However, there is one section where you have to cross a creek, depending on the season and weather this could be a different experience. The stepping stones are nice and flat, and can be used to cross most of the year
The trail was well used and easy to follow. You cross a creek twice but it’s got plenty of stepping stones so it was no problem. The waterfall is beautiful! And the walk along the way is great too. Tons of caves and cool things to explore on the way up as well.
The trail to the waterfall is super short and decently kid friendly. There is stream to cross but flat pavers have been layed to make it easier. Little kids will need to be carried. There are several little spots to explorer right off the main trail. Once you get to the falls there is a small beach to hangout and plenty of mini caves to explorer. We did go on a not so busy day but this place is well traveled. If you don't love people this is not for you. You could easily spend a couple hours swimming and enjoying the day. There is 2 more trails that begin near the parking area, which is plentiful. One heads to the top of the waterfall ( we'll do that next time ) and the other heads north west up into the hills. Beware of rattlesnake in the hotter months. Overall we LOVED it and can't wait to go back and explore some more.
The road to the trail head is a public road on private land. Plenty of signs to keep you on the road but make sure to follow them. How I got to the waterfall was I parked as close to the boat launch as I could then went straight down towards the creek and past the bathrooms. Follow that trail, cross the creek via some stepping stones (would highly recommend waterproof boots) and then continue down the trail until you get to the waterfall. Saw 2 other groups on the trail but had the waterfall to myself on a Wednesday afternoon.
It felt like spring today. The lower lot is closed for the season, and the upper lot was very crowded, but the trail wasn’t too bad. I’m guessing most were off-roading today. The lower trail to the falls was in good shape, not too muddy except around the creek crossing. The falls is flowing decently well. The upper trails to the lookout and ridge are both clear and dry.
Great day with my wife Crystal. A little muddy in spots, but not too bad. Could not find a path to the top of the falls... but our views were awesome either way. A little tough going up hill on the first half (I must have packed on the holiday weight :()...lungs were dying.
I would highly recommend this trail especially if you have little ones. Lots of neat caves to see and in the summer a nice cool dip once you get to the falls. This is a very family friendly trail. Short with a beautiful water fall at the end. We hiked/walked it when it was hovering between 35-40 degrees. Beware there is one section where you have to cross a creek. The stepping stones are nice and flat however use caution in the late fall/winter as they do get icy and slick.
