Trail was pretty overgrown, trees down across the trail. Pretty easy to get off the trail, as they’re not well marked with where to go.

There are several loops to this trail, we got off the path up at the top but saw an interpretative trail marker so we thought it was the right way. But we made it down thanks to the App. Brought 3 kids, 9, 8 and 4 and they did great. They loved the old tractor.

Lots of water and birds. A bit overgrown at times (pants might be best unless it’s hot) with some logs to climb over. Upper trail has some elevation but nothing too difficult. Well marked. Be prepared for mosquitoes and flies. Lower trial had quite a few people with dogs. Didn’t see anyone on the upper trail. No bathroom facilities.

Enjoyed the hike and views! Only encountered two other groups. While a tad overgrown it was pleasant and natural

Good nature hike, lots of wildflowers, a little overgrown in some parts but overall a great leisurely hike/walk. There’s a short trail up to nice well-maintained lookout deck that isn’t marked on this map but is an obvious trail branching to the left of the main trail with an arrow pointing to it. Definitely a must see.

I loved this trail! My husband did Scotchman Peak the day before, and we were looking for a short, mellow hike to get the kids out of the house. We enjoyed this trail a lot. There were a couple of steep parts, flowers, logs to cross, and beautiful scenery. There seemed to be other trails branching off of this one. It is well maintained, and overall a great place to get the family out and moving, without them wanting to kill you!

Beautiful but being able to hear the highway noise was disappointing.

Fantastic trail! Our 3 yr old son hiked the whole thing on his own if that’s any indication to the ease of this trail. He loved seeing the old bulldozer along the way. The lookout is nice and you have to go around it and continue up the hill to see the memorial. Bugs are only bad at the bottom along the wetlands. Bring binoculars if you like birding!

Great hike in the spring. Beautiful views and wild flowers. Lots of mosquitoes today. Even got bitten with lots of bug spray.

Great trail for the entire family. I have hesitated to do this trail for some time thinking it wouldn’t be that great but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a beautiful trail, wooded, not just along the grasslands, with some nice views of the lake. We enjoyed the lookout at the top. Well worth the little extra hike to get to it. To make the trail easier skip the first upper loop. Stay on the lower trail, your kids will thank you! ;) We got on a wrong trail doing that loop on the way back and had to eventually turn around. That portion of the trail was not well marked. Stay right and that will keep you on the correct trail.

This trail was beautiful. My toddler did amazing thanks to all the bugs and critters we were able to see along the way. We stopped at a couple of the ponds and were able to see all of the tadpoles & some salamanders. Birds singing everywhere. Will definitely be back to venture further.

I got here at like 7 am and it was gorgeous watching the trail and wetlands slowly get bathed in light. There were lots of birds singing and flitting about, and I was able to see lots of flowers and amazing views! Other than being spooked by a squirrel and scaring some deer on the trail when I sneezed I enjoyed it! However, there were a few fallen logs across the path, and there was some muddy spots. I would definitely repeat this trail!

Beautiful day for a hike. Parking lot was pretty full, but didn't notice it on the trails. We hiked all the way to the top to the lookout deck. Definitely worth the hike. We will be hiking this trail again.

It was pretty easy, pretty field views and the trees were gorgeous. However, it was not the most interesting hike ever

It's a lovely hike. We brought our old lady dog and she did great. We spotted a turkey vulture, which was cool. We also saw a fox on the lake's shore and a little snake too. Our toddler really liked all the cool sticks and bugs.

HikingMuddySnow

February - Late Winter Probably not the best time to hike this given the time of year. Trail had a little snow, and was very muddy on the lower section. The loop I did took me about an hour. The lower part of the trail isn’t too exciting. Very marshy, and there’s not much to look at other than the highway. You can hear the highway pretty much the whole hike. On the upper portion it gets a little more wooded, and there is a pretty good lookout over CDA and the lake. The map at the trail head shows another loop you can do, but that isn’t listed on AllTrails. Otherwise not much else to say. Ample parking, and dog friendly. I think this trail is known for bird watching, so I’m sure it is a lot nicer in the summer when there is more wildlife, and everything is in bloom. I might give it another try in the summer.
