Idler's Rest Nature Preserve is a 1.3 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Moscow, Idaho that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Icy in places, but such a fun walk! Some really cool finds too. Loved it!
Nice trail. Beautiful on the lower side. Lots of little bridges and well maintained.
Good trail. Mainly stuck to the outside, but there are other intersections and smaller loops within.
Beautiful little hike. It gets kind of confusing as to which way to go at times so the app is certainly useful. Also the entrance to the parking lot is a little rough so if your vehicle isn’t AWD or doesn’t have a good amount of ground clearance then be careful
It is an easy trail but poorly marked when first starting g. so when you park make sure to look at map provided. a good portion of the trail is across the road. when 1st starting if you are looking at the map and look across the street you'll see start of one trail but if you start on trail up by bathrooms isn't marked and willecenutually lead you to the road. once you get to road walk to left and you will eventually see begining of trail on right. all in all it was pretty and it's about 2 miles for all trails.
took group of cub scouts and siblings from age 3 through 12 on both loops today. it was a little drizzly but otherwise a great hike.
Loved this trail! The Boy Scout projects were well done, and my kids and I were so excited to find the mailboxes with poetry/photography books in them. It was very cool to be able to take a break and enjoy some poetry in such a beautiful spot. The hike was easy and my 4 year old handled it with no issues. The trails weren’t well marked, but it’s basically a circle so it was easy to find our way. We’ll definitely go back!
Half of the highland loop seemed to be closed down for something. Either that or simply more difficult to access. Will definitely return and try starting with that loop to figure it out. Loved the trail. Lots of big beautiful homes on the way to the trail head as well!
A great little getaway and a trail that is less than and hour even if you take your time. I would recommend longer pants for there are a few parts walking through grassy areas, but that is not necessary unless you are allergic. A few areas where the trail is steeper, but nothing you can’t handle if you are even the slightest bit in shape. Overall a great trail!
Nice easy walk. We started from the parking area. When it crosses the road, go left about two car lengths to find the trail entrance. It’s confusing because straight across the road is a sign that says “this is not a trail”. Since it is a preserve surrounded by private property, the sign made us think the trail just ended at the road. A sweet little place, great for kids.
