Good climb, classic southern Idaho beauty and sagebrush, with some good views. Not very crowded but a pretty even mix of hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers.

Very hard in 91 degree weather! But absolutely beautiful and worth it I guess lol

This was one of my favorite trails, at least when I went. there were lots of wildflowers (this was 2-3 weeks ago). Was a steady incline with switchbacks the whole way up and then nice view at the top. Connects to lucky Peak trail. Went early morning on a weekday and saw a couple cyclists and hikers. have to park on street, no actual parking lot.

Where did the flowers go? Very dull walk

Great trail. We loved all the vegetation, wildflowers, bird nests and views. People on the trail were friendly and there was plenty of room for hikers and bikers. We will be back!

We absolutely loved this one. There was hardly anyone else on the trail. It’s a great distance. There is an incline the whole way, but even my 6 year old made it the whole time with minimal complaining so it’s not too challenging. The weather was absolutely perfect although we went early morning. it was muddy from two days of rain.

Fri - 5/15/20 at 8a MST. Wonderful trail. A lot of ‘silt’ today, which makes it tough to hike easily, since you end up with natural leg weights as you walk along ... tough to get off hiking shoes/boots. Views are always beautiful. Peaceful. Maybe better mid summer.

Wildflowers GALORE! A nice hike with switchbacks and not too challenging. I felt sorry for the mountain bikers; they appeared to be struggling.

Great trail on a nice sunny day. Trails were dry and hard packed. Views over SE Boise. Links to Lucky Peak Trail at the top/end. Sign says dogs on leash.

Gradual incline the whole way up, not too steep. Some shade. Good views from the top.

April 1st hike. Just went to gate halfway up as I need to help dad in his yard.

Very nice work out. No shade and lots and lots of bugs. Stink bugs and those big crickets. It was eerie in some areas where the trail narrowed and you had to duck to avoid the over grown branches that blocked your path. You were surrounded by the sounds of all these bugs all around you. And you had to dodge the bugs that jumped out at you. This is why the low score. Not a fan of bugs but this was a bit much. Less dogie droppings. then some ;)

Good cardio, but lots of cicadas jumping around (and at you!). Might just be the time of year. Will probably go back in the Fall!

Great uphill climb. No shade or trees so best to hike morning or on days where it isn’t as hot. There were some beautiful yellow flowers blooming. At the end of the homestead trail, you have the ability to continue uphill or downhill on the lucky peak trail.

It would be great when the flowers are still in bloom. Nonetheless, great cardio workout

Awesome and challenging trail. I have also ran this trail which is stellar for training for Robbie creek.

How I got there: Headed east on Warm Springs and turned right (north) onto Council Springs. It's at the end of the road. Loved this hike! Very green right now with lots of trickling streams and signs of mule deer in the area. Remembered this time to bring a grocery bag--used it to clean up the fire pit garbage at the Old Homestead a little ways off the trail. Highly recommended. Note: If you are a geocacher, there are a handful of fun, easy ones along the trail!

Very scenic hike of Boise was a little confusing finding the spot also a little bit of a climb. But all in all I'd say a good fun hike went with friends and dogs and everybody had a great time!

Good climb, classic southern Idaho beauty (sagebrush), with some good views. Not very crowded but a pretty even mix of hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers. Took about 2.5 hours hiking with my six year old daughter, she enjoyed it thoroughly.
