Wearing bright colors and using flags and lights is always recommended for personal safety. There are at least 3 ADA-compliant car parking spots with access aisles at the trailhead.
it's a convenient loop if you're looking to walk and track miles. No frills and the canal often smells strongly of algae. I really wish people would pick up their dog crap. Of all the places I've lived in and traveled to, Caldwell folks just don't seem to get it or care about picking up after their dogs. The path is literally scattered with dog feces. I do appreciate the adjacent fenced in dog parks, one of which has a small, gravel walking loop. Oddly enough, sans dog poop.
The end of the route was ok. Most of it was nothing to write home about though. Too close to the freeway, and not very scenic. It was windy, but I had great company.
Not great, the trail stops and you have to go on the road at times, too much traffic noise as well.
Really scenic route, lots of trees. Major downsides are the amount of dog poop and how loud the cars are
walking trail was level and mostly paved but it wasn't very pretty and don't think we will come back.
Really an unexpected find in Caldwell! Lots of fishing at the lake, the trail was lovely!
this was the worst Trail I have ever taken. It is used by dogs and people are not picking up after the dogs. You walk around the lake that you can't see. There are chain-link fence to the right and half of the Walk is on a road. I do not think this is a good walk. Very disappointed in this walk. The vista to see is one of a derelict mobil home park and a freeway joining a highway.
What a great easy trail/path to take. I went on a Wednesday and hardly any foot traffic. Some shade but if it’s hot out bring water.
The path is almost all paved and in great condition. It's plenty wide for foot traffic and bikes not to be in each other's way. Walking along the river is beautiful and more than half is shaded later in the day. You will run into few gnats here and there, but they aren't too bad. All in all it's a great place for an evening stroll that's nice and easy.
the trail is absolutely beautiful. The scenery and Wildlife are stunning. The trail itself needs mending. I wouldn't recommend it for Road cyclist. However Mountain trail enthusiast's I highly recommend it. hopefully the caretakers of the trail will read this post. It would be great for casual cycling. But the cracks in the trail and the unevenness I would see as a deterrent.
