I did the first 2.5 miles of the trail on a cold day in mid June. Started with light rain, then as I went up in elevation, encountered sleet, snow, fog, wind, and then it suddenly cleared revealing a spectacular view of the Sawtooth mountains and lake. The trail is somewhat steep, but steady and fairly smooth. Around the 2.5 mile mark is a ridgeline with another trail (not sure of the name) to the left.
