Easy and fun hike.... we added some extra trails to make a longer loop. Some snow and mud but very easy to go around. Very sheltered from wind.

HikingGreat!

The 1.1 mile loop refers to following signs for the “Cut Off” path. Taking the full Backyard Boulders Trail was closer to 2 miles. Along the trail you see amazing views, and the kids can climb some huge rocks. There was a cave called Shock and Awe that was neat to hang out in and grab a snack , since it’s easily 15F cooler than out in the sun. Along the trail there are a number of campsites that seem to be amazing locations to spend a night under the stars. There was a muddy area on the trail but most of it was great. 2 stream crossings on the trail were fun too. The whole family enjoyed this trail in early April. I imagine it would be quite hot in the heart of summer.

Nature tripsGreat!

kind of made it a loop past the pictoglyphs. Honestly I didn't think much of it when I first pulled in to the Deserts Edge. Good example never to judge a book by its cover! Walking around I found the area amazingly beautiful with diverse plant+life, landscapes & the only one there today! Down low atleast the snow is mostly melted & accessable.

HikingGreat!

A short, easy trail that invites to stop almost ever stop to enjoy the permanently changing views of those impressive rock formations that are scattered. Similar (rock formations) yet very different from nearby City of Rocks.

Beautiful stroll through nature! Even my 74 year old mother loves hiking it! We like that there are a few creeks you cross, so it's great for dogs! I don't even have to worry about packing water! My corgis love it!
