This trail doesn’t actually start where the map shows, so we walked about .75 miles to get to the real trailhead (keep driving up the mountain to the true trailhead signage). The trail was really overgrown, so we didn’t go more than 100 yards before turning back and walking to the car. None of us were prepared to be in growth like that, so none of us had pants on.

Great hidden trail! The trail portion of this hike starts about .5 miles up from where it stays the trail head is, but the road is rough and barely traveled by cars, so it’s not unpleasant to start farther down. The beginning of the trail is overgrown, but within 2 minutes in the trail becomes more clear and visible. We saw a herd of elk, blue jays, and a field of wildflowers. Pretty good trade off for mild bushwhacking and no other people.

We did not get far because of mosquitoes! tons! !! However, the view driving up is worth the trip!
