Waiakalua Beach Trail is a 0.4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Kilauea, Hawaii that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
Short hike down to beautiful Kauai Beach. A few miles south of Kilauea town turn towards the ocean where you see the Kilauea Farm sign on N. Wailapa Road. Youll drive to the end and then turn left on the dirt road that ends at the beach overlook. Make sure belongings are in the trunk. At the overlook there are two trails. The easier one to the left goes to spectacular Waiakalua Beach. Its steep but not as much as the trail is to Pilaa Beach. Allow 5-10 minutes to reach Waiakalua Beach or 30 minutes on the Pilaa Beach trail. Waiakalua Beach - a great place to snorkel in summer. The beach is seldom used and provides wonderful moments of relaxation.
