Not to be missed on a trip to the park. A major stop for the tour busses so if you can go earlier. It isn’t lit before 10 am so bring a light, even the light on your phone will work. Follow the tube through to the other side and the trail will loop back.

Nice walk- short but cool if you’ve never been to a lava tube before. Great with kids!

Tack a visit through the lava tube onto the Kilauea Iki hike. If you have never seen a lava tube before, it is worth seeing it to get a glimpse of the sheer size and magnitude of what goes on underground in a volcano.

A short and well maintained trail, cool to see the lava tube. But there were so many tour buses pulling up every moment that there was basically a line to get through and everyone was moving very slowly and taking up the whole path with their selfie sticks.

Short, easy, crowded. But pretty cool looking and especially interesting geologically

Short and easy. Many water puddles in cave. Prepare to get your feet wet.

A short but beautiful walk! The tubes were cool but I wished it was longer. It took about 2 minutes to walk through the tubes and the rest of the trail took about 10 minutes.

Short, boring

Not a hike, to be honest - the Maui's road to Hana had a better lava tube. It's not as interesting it would seem at all. Definitely, don't go there just for the lava tube.

If you're there it's worth checking out, but don't drive there just for the tubes.

cool for what it is. It was pretty crowded when we went.

Crowded but neat. Lights were out much of the way. Bring headlamp or flashlight. Phone flashlight works fine. It's short and shouldn't use too much juice

You get to walk through a lava tube! How freakin' cool is that? Short, not as crowded as normal - the lights are out and most don't bring headlamps. It was short and cool. Literally, the temp drops by at least 10 degrees in there...

Shorter hike than I remember from our honeymoon 17 years ago. Where the stairs go out at the end you used to be able to keep walking in the darkness which was pretty spooky. Either way a definite must if visiting.

Easy jaunt and nice cool down if you've just finished up the Kilauea Iki trail across the street.

Due to some standing water issues, the lights of the tube were out when we went, which actually made it a little more fun (always looking for an excuse to activate the head lamps).

The trail itself is stable and well-maintained throughout (possibly paved within). There's a brief walk through the jungle as you descend down to the tube location but it's nothing major.

The tube isn't terribly long. Perhaps long enough that you'd benefit from a light source for a short period of time in the middle but it won't take more than a few minutes to clear.

Neat hike. Short hike.

Interesting that it's a lava tube, but ither than that, not much to offer.

The lights were out which was no big deal since every phone has a light. The tube itself wasn't a big deal and too crowded with tourist busses.

We did this loop after hiking 7miles through the volcano and it was the perfect easy walk before we started the 7miles back to our car. Very cool and very wet inside.

I walked in here a ways on a trip back in 92' Kilauea was really active so it was spooky in here. You feel like there would be no retreat if lava started heading your way. Even though I knew that wasn't possible, it was still creepy that day. I didn't go all the way to the end as others with me were waiting back in the car. It was interesting though and is easy to do.

Easy but a must see if you never seen a lava tube. Parking is in short supply here even during weekdays

Fun easy trail with short moderate descent and ascent to ends of the tube. Bring a flashlight if you want to check out darker corners. Can be chilly so take a jacket. Takes about half hour total for experienced hikers.

Very cool to walk through. Very short. Very easy. But the forests and just being able to walk through the volcano tunnel make it well worth the pit stop. Great photo ops.
