6/17/2017-Weather was pretty good today: generally overcast with some sun that peeked through the clouds. Came across 11 groups of people by 0900 so getting an early start is best. Trail got to dry out during the week so it wasn't too muddy.

Very family friendly, if you go around a rainy time, be prepared for the muddy and slippery fun falls, but no dangerous cliffs no steep rock climbing. Definitely a trail for the family, the pups and a beautiful view of the west coast at the end.

Easy hike that the family can enjoy. It's covered unlike a lot of the other pill box hikes. It had rain a decent amount the day before so it jumped up a difficulty level with a 15 month old attached to us. It was very muddy so dont wear nice clothes. Non the less it was a very rewarding hike much like the other pill box hikes.

Phenomenal hike through a lush forest to get to the top of an absolutely incredible viewpoint overlooking all of Kaneohe Bay, which features nearly every hue of blue water you can imagine. This is a truly special place and viewpoint, and is not to be missed if you have the time. At the top is an old WWII pillbox (e.g. bunker). It gets pretty steep towards the top, so be prepared for that, but the view is absolutely worth every ounce of the effort. We parked on the street by the condos across from the McDonalds and simply walked along the highway guide rail until we got to the opening in the woods.

Easy climb, beautiful views! My 20 lb. Terrier loved this and it seems family friendly since we saw kids on the trail who had no problems and were having a blast!

Beautiful views at the end of the trail! Worth all the huffing and puffing you'll do on the way up.

What a nice hike. Not too hard at all. This would be a good one for younger kids and dogs on leash. There are no scary ridges to slip and fall down. It is a nice steady incline for sure so you don't want to do it when it's raining at all. We did it a day after rain and it was pretty dry already. The view up top is beautiful and the pillboxes are covered with bright art inside. We parked in the very back of the theater parking lot behind the McDonalds. The trail is a white "no trespassing" sign and yellow marker on the side of the highway.
