It took us 2 hours from the parking spot to Apua Point. We were expecting more of a sandy beach oasis, but found a pretty, rocky point with very nice tide pools. It was a one and done kind of hike for me. There is no shade on the trail and it gets pretty toasty so plan accordingly.

Walking on the lava was tough on my knees and ankles. Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen because there is no shade. Gorgeous view of the coast. Bring water shoes for wadding In the ocean pools

The trail is pretty long and without any shade but easy to find thanks to the mounts of stones places along the way. I had a lot of fun hiking onto all the different kind of grounds, especially the hardened lava. Apua point was a really rewarding place to reach!
