Just follow the rock carns and everything will be a-ok. it's actually a 12.6 mile round trip trail 6.3 in and 6.4 back - the turn around point is in po-oh trailhead and is marked wo th a large 15x15 meter clearing. I walked the powerlines back and used Google Maps because was sick of hopping from boulder to boulder.

A rocky trail. Didn’t get far because it is also a place where there is hunting and we saw some people shooting. Clearly a good idea to bring some neon gear.

The trail was very rocky so not the most comfortable hike for anyone with knee or ankle problems. I did get great pictures in front of Mauna Kea on this hike so I would say I wasn't too disappointed. The distance to the Lava Tube was comfortable and easy (no inclines).
