Hāʻena State Park and the adjacent Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park (including the Kalalau Trail) on Kauai are closed due to flood damage affecting both the parks, as well as the highway and bridges which access the parks. Closures will likely be for an extended period of time, as damage assessments and repairs must be completed. http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/hiking/kauai/kalalau-trail/ Start from the Kalalau Trailhead and hike 1/4 mile to a viewpoint. From there you can choose to turn back or continue on.

We hit the 1 mile and kept going another mile to the beach and another 4 to the waterfall. very fun hike - beautiful views! don't forget to watch for whales during certain seasons!
