To get to the trailhead, you need a 4WD to traverse Mana Road. The path to the monument is through forested pasture. There are Douglas Firs, Pines, Ohia and Koa trees. At the bottom, the David Douglas Monument stands. To its right is a stand of old Douglas Firs, fitting for the Scottish Botanist for whom the trees were named.
