A fun little hike for the kids! We completed the Light house trail, and decided to explore this one afterwards. It’s pretty easy with a mixture of rock and dirt paths, and there is a nice little break spot under a small tree with a dirt mound for the kids to play in. Be careful with your steps because our son ended up with a few large thorns in his shoes.
You’ll find a small sandy beach area with very gentle tides coming in. There are a few small tide pools to the side where the kids can search for fish and crabs. Overall, it was a lot of fun and a good way to end the afternoon!

Very dry, and flat.

Starting adjacent to the Makapu'u Lighthouse trail, the Shoreline Trail is mostly flat to Pele's Chair and the rocky shoreline and tide pools. This is the desert side of the valley so can get really hot. Please respect the fishermen along the shore and soak your feet in the rocky surf. Great additional hike in Makapu'u Wayside Park for exploring.
