Near lulumahu falls, quick stop through here on our trip. Neat things to see. Picturesque

Its a pretty basic short loop trail with a very small waterfall that kids like to jump in. The best waterfall on the island lulumalu falls is right next to it though so while the trail is certainly nice, based on Oahu standards it is pretty mediocre but if you are a tourist you will like it. Still there are much better trails. If you want to join up as a group on a real one my email is justindavidsands@gmail.com

Beautiful trail that opens to a grove of large pines! Muddy and rooty- of course!

Nice trail, easy to moderate based on root structure and elevation changes.

Couple spots to swim with off shoots of the main trail.

Awesome, very unique hike! If bringing kids or pets, it would be much advised to wait until the weather has been dry for at least a few days. We did it the day after a small rain storm, but after about a week of a swell. The river was extremely high! There were actual rapids, making the crossing fairly difficult for adults. My son, aged 3, had to be carried across and the water reached to my stomach and was very fast moving. It was absolutely worth it, though!
With the extra high waters, it was hard in two spots to find the path. The map had a hard time pinpointing my location, so it was a very loose guide.
We LOVED it! Definitely recommend

Very kid friendly, easy hike. Mosquitoes and mud, so come prepared with bug spray.

Easy hike with bamboo trees, captain cook pines, and stream with waterfall. Kid and pet friendly.

Beautiful trees, you have to walk through the water at the beginning. The trail gets pretty muddy in spots, bring bug spray and wipes to wipe your hands if you need too. Our family had a great time!

It was ok. There was a chance to go through a creek and interesting to see the different types of tree.

Nice little hike. Parking on the street, take mosquito spray! Has a river crossing, my kids 8, 10 loved hopping over the slippery stones in the water. Path a little muddy but overall ok. Beautiful forest walk with very small waterfall. Took us about an hour but we walked VERY slow.

Took a quick hike in the Nu’uanu Valley. Definitely a rooty and slippery hike, but a beautiful forest hike which included crossing Nu’uanu Stream and then hike down to the waterfall and around. Circular trail has a branch which leads to a 3 mike trail to Manoa Falls. That was not in the plans for today...especially when it started raining and getting dark. Maybe another time. Still in shock someone left a dirt diaper behind for the trail cleanup crew. Gross!

Great trail for an easy hike in the shade. My dog loved this hike. There was a stream and a waterfall my dog cooled off in. Highly recommend.

8/6/2017-Was pretty good weather today and hike had a little mud. Trail was fairly easy to navigate and only encountered 8 groups of hikers the whole time. Trail is mostly shaded so that's a plus and not too many people were swimming at Jackass Ginger Pool. Please be aware some people do let their dogs roam without a leash on this trail.

More of a nature walk than a hike, but very rewarding! Wear your swimsuit and bring some good hiking sandals or water shoes to swim in the Jackass Ginger pool.

The trail is really well marked with trail signs and pink trail markers. It is a loop trail that goes by a waterfall/swimming hole, and then through some jungle and forest. It was slightly muddy but really not that bad. It was a nice little hike just to walk around for an hour or so.

Nice easy hike. Kids will have fun. Only challenge with younger kids (5 and under) is crossing the stream where thy will need help.

The pools was very nice. I found out after down the road a bit is a trail that leads from the road to the pools versus taking the rocky trailhead down.

One of my favorite little hikes to take my dogs. Would be perfect for families with small children (we see groups all the time). If you want to find the jackass ginger pool it is not immediately obvious. Two ways: when you reach the stream crossing before the bamboo forest, you can choose to keep to the stream and continue alongside and do a scramble until you reach the pool at the end (this takes more time but is less steep than the following). Your second choice is to take a right after crossing the stream into the bamboo forest and continue up the little rock climb to the main path and just listen to the river and keep looking towards your right. You will soon hear the waterfall (less than 1/4 mile) and see a "clearish" area to scramble down the hill to the pool.

Great hike. Last day on Hawaii and I'm finishing my vacation off on a great note. I was looking for a jungle like hike to do and took a chance on this trail. I was rewarded with a beautiful waterfall and equally as beautiful senory. Pretty easy hike. I did this hike with my family so it's definitely family friendly.

My dog loved this trail. Easy to follow signs though we never saw the swimming hole.

From other websites this looks like a great kids hike IF IT'S DRY!
In the mud it is kind of miserable.
There is supposed to be a swimming hole which sounds awesome on a dry day, however the trail wasn't well marked and we never found it.
