We did this today after a week of heavy rain and rain today. There was about a 45 minute window of sunshine so we took it! The trail is between the fences and then goes down a very steep trail. From the rain it was VERY SLICK and MUDDY and quite strenuous. I don’t know what it would be like on a dry day but after heavy rains this trail was not for small kids or anyone who can’t climb, and scale down holding the ropes. Only takes 10 min or less.... The beach at the end was the prettiest we have seen though and totally worth it!

Gorgeous little slice of heaven- totally worth it for the 10 minute hike. Snorklers saw dozens of sea turtles, and we even saw a seal, planning to go back in a few days.

BEWARE!! Steel spike sticking up on left side of trail! Literally pointy and sharp!

Trail is a challenge. Beach gets a fraction of sun.

Snorkeling proved to have only fish and the under toe is quite a struggle!

Clean beach. No shells

Super steep to get down to the beach but best snorkeling I’ve found on this side of the island so far. Super clear and not too choppy, saw about 6-7 sea turtles!

Short walk with a bit of a steep descent using ropes. If you’re fit and kids are 7+ this is totally worth the small adventure to get to the beach. Wear shoes as flip flops can be a little slippery when ground is wet.

The parking only has 11 spots, so plan accordingly. Do NOT park on the street or you will get a ticket and possibly towed.

The trail down is awesome. Only about a 10-15 minute walk but it gets pretty vertical and slippery. We recommend good shoes. You may need to use the ropes going up or down.

Once on the beach, if you’re adventurous, you can climb the rocks to the right and get to your own secluded beach but it’s dangerous. Do NOT go on the rocks if the waves are big.

Great snorkeling and lots of fish and turtles. For videos go to: YouTube/TheAdventureTravelers

Getting down and up is an adventure. Using ropes on steep, slippery ground. Wouldn’t take anyone with bad knees on this one. I used my Vivobarefoot hiking/water shoes and they worked well. Not sure if I would use flip flops, although people were walking down in theirs.

At the steepest points I used the ropes and climbed down backwards as if I was repelling and that was fun!

Beach is not as crowded which was nice. The parking lot is small, and parking is very limited. We just got lucky and on our second attempt someone was leaving so we got their spot.

A handful of people were snorkeling, and when I went out to join them I noticed a giant sea turtle.

It hung around for awhile, and I kept my distance; noticing it eat, and watched all the beautiful fish swim around it. Would definitely come back!!

Pretty steep and slippery, but there are ropes to hold on to. Overall the beach is awesome.

Amazing snorkeling, swam upon 3 green sea turtles and psychedelic fish.

Not really a hike, but a nice beach. Took us 7 minutes down to the beach. There are short steep parts, but there are ropes to help you go down. Snorkelled two times and saw a seaturtle each time!

Bring your snorkel stuff!! A little treacherous going down but easier going up. A definite must see. We spent 2 hours here and thAt was enough.

Not worth going for the hike (short distance very slippery walk down and back up), but definitely worth going for the beach. Small beach with beautiful views and great snorkelling. Will go back if in north Kauai again!

Very steep and slippery when muddy. Worth the short trek down, small beach but quaint.

Good spot to snorkel- we saw turtles 2/3 times we snorkelled!. The beach was a wee bit crowded! Reasonably easy path down with ropes in the steep areas.
Edit: We returned just the next day and after rain the trail became veeery difficult and slippery! Lucky there are roses to haul yourself up and down

The trek down is a little steep but there is a rail/rope most of the way down. Again, trekking poles make it a breeze. The beach is secluded and the surf gentle. Its a great spot for a nice sunset.

I agree with previous comments, it's not a real trail just a way to a magnificent beach. Snorkeling was very good there.

Je ne comprends pas pourquoi cette randonnée est considérée comme modérée. Très touristique sûrement mais très facile. Une belle petite plage sans plus.

I would not consider this a hike, it is a path down to one of the best Beaches on the Island. The path can be quite tricky and is steep in parts so you need to watch your step. If you stay at kauaidreamer.com you will be located directly above Hideaways beach.

What an amazing beach! The hike is steep and muddy but it is really short! It’s more an easy-moderate hike!

Absolutely beautiful beach without many people around. The trail is steep and muddy but it's short and there's ropes to grab onto. Wear hiking sandals and you should be good to go!

TAKE SNORKELING GEAR and get there early to avoid crowds. Beautiful beach!

Hideaways beach was by far one of the best beaches I was able to visit while in Kauai. The hike down is short, but is by no means easy, it can be pretty slippery and steep in parts. The hike down was totally worth it in my opinion, but if you are not a comfortable hiker it may not be the best place to go. If you are planning on going, bring some snorkeling gear and plan to stay for a while, it is beautiful. It may begin to rain, but tends to pass quickly and the sun might be back out before you know it.

Its a good beach for hanging out and fairly easy to get to with ropes and railings for support on muddy steps. Its a nice sandy beach with decent snorkeling. Only downside is it seems to be really crowded and small.

Easy hike - beutifull beach!

Beautiful beach! Bring a snack and snorkel gear!

this one really is amazing. There is not much parking, so you will be lucky to find a space. If you do, just go down the trail. It is a short but steep hike with ropes to help you down. It will probably be very muddy, but the payoff is very rewarding as you reach a beach with pristine water and a nice Reef for snorkeling

Ok. This is NOT a hike. It’s a scramble down a cliff. There are hand rails to start and ropes at the bottom to help you down. Rating it 5 because of the location and the sunset. Some of us had hiking shoes. Others wore hiking sandals. It was wet today. If it had been dry flip flops would be fine. It’s so worth the descent. The beach was awesome. We had it to ourselves- almost !

Great for snorkling and lots of shade on the beach. It is a bit tricky to get down after a big rainfall as it makes the trail very slick.

Steep and small parking lot. Goergeous but be careful in high surf season.
