Akaka Falls Trail is a 0.5 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Pepeekeo, Hawaii that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round.
Loop hike takes you to two large waterfalls in a lush rain forest near Hilo. Self-guided walk through tropical vegetation to scenic vista points overlooking the cascading Kahuna Falls and the free-falling 'Akaka Falls, which plunges 442 feet into a stream-eroded gorge. The 0.4-mile loop footpath is a good family walk. Trailhead is located just off the parking lot. The paved route offers stunning viewpoints of the two waterfalls. To view Akaka Falls only, take the path to the left (south) from the first junction. The waterfall view is just a short walk down the path.
Beautiful area. Easy walk.
Reasonably short walk to a beautiful waterfall. For all ages.
Short paved path with nice views of the waterfall and flora. Sometimes pretty crowded with tourists, some stairs, but nothing challenging. Definitely worth seeing if you are on the Hilo side of the island.
Loved it. Easy Paved trail. Just a tad accent and decent.
Easy walk to view two falls, all paved.
Super easy trek into the jungle
Great hike.... nicely paved.... safe for children....
Beautiful walk and falls (Akaka & Kahuna). There is a $5 State Park fee for the carpark, however the trail is so well maintained and beautiful that it is totally worth it. The scenery is absotutely beautiful and it is an easy walk.
loved this hike. you do have to pay for parking but it's worth it.
Really nice falls ! 1$ to 5$ fees but it worth the price. Beautiful little trail with a lot of birds, wild flowers and trees. The falls are impressive ! You need 30 to 40 minutes, time to see everything and take some pictures !
Cool views, nicely maintained paved paths.
