Really nice trail, I bet it's beautiful in the spring. Loved being able to sit at the end and just watch the birds in the river. Really peaceful.
Well maintained and marked; not too technical; always heard traffic; overall good experience
Great park except for some pit bulls off leash with kids and small dogs.
The West Palisades trail is a good hike to do if you are looking for something centrally located and that won't take too long. I enjoyed that there were many different terrains and that there was a good bit of variety. There were elevation changes, rock paths, concrete, views of the river, etc. The trail was also fairly bustling with many people and pets (this is not the trail for you if you are not a dog lover!).
Overall, I give it four stars because it was a good work out with nice views. I also appreciated the fact that it was marked well with blue markers throughout. The only aspect left to be desired was the fact that the river was only visible during a brief time and virtually no where to be found for the majority of the hike.
