Nature tripsGreat!Muddy

Great hike! Did it counter clockwise to avoid a steep incline at the end. This was a perfect choice for me as the incline at the end was still a good workout! Beautiful creeks and waterfall! Fun trail with lots of variety! There were a few muddy spots after a heavy rain the day before but these spots were fairly easy to cross. The creek crossings were a challenge at times and poles would have been a good help. Would do this trail again! (P.S. My Garmin totaled more than 5.6mi... )

Moderately difficult hike but a beautiful waterfall. Multiple creek crossing that were difficult to traverse. Lots of elevation changes but a and beautiful hike.

Make sure to go counter clockwise. Intense hike back up but easier than clockwise. Lots of nice creeks and the waterfalls are amazing.

A pretty hike with a canyon profile (down is optional - up is mandatory) and excellent waterfall reveal. I did it on Election Day and enjoyed the only babble being from a brook and the only cackle coming from the crunching leaves below my feet. Saw not a soul and enjoyed every uphill and downhill moment.

Nice relaxing hike with some nice waterfalls. A bit steep towards the end, but overall pretty easy.

Holy guacamole, what a hike. We decided to take the counter clockwise direction of the loop and were stunned by how steep the decline was. Imagine our surprise when the incline on the way back was even more strenuous We almost missed the little side trail to the epic waterfall (and I do mean EPIC). We ran into essentially no one - deserted except for a few deer hunters right at the start. One thing I did not realize until we got there is that you need to have purchased a land permit through the GA DNR. At the time of this writing it is $32. We were able to purchase on our smart phones before starting the trail. Overall a beautiful and very challenging route that I will absolutely do again.

Beautiful trail with a great view of a spectacular waterfall. The trailhead is on Monument Rd. right where the driving directions say it should be. I didn't take any water with me and that was a big mistake. With the heat and the elevation changes, I ended up getting dehydrated and this trail kicked my butt on the way back out. I don't know about the moderate rating. This trail is an unrelenting 1400 ft drop going in and an equivalent climb on the way out. Take a good look at the elevation profile and the steepness of the grade, then bring plenty of water and enjoy this beautiful trail.

I went clockwise which meant the Trail was less steep to start and ended with very steep uphill run. Seems like most people were going counter clockwise and ending with the less steep portion. I’d rather do more steep uphill, so it worked out for me.

I’m an avid hiker (3-4 times per week) and this trail is for sure a workout. Very steep in spots, there are about 4 easy creek crossings if you want to see both waterfalls. To get to the second one, take the Fall Creek Branch off instead of continuing on the loop. You’ll get to an unmarked trail on your left. Take it down a short way and you’ll be at the falls. Despite the difficulty, this is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful trails I’ve ever been on. I can’t wait to come back!

HikingGreat!

Excellent trail. Strenuous in some parts just because of the sustained uphill climb, but very lovely. Waterfall is wonderful to sit and contemplate. A good hike for mountain landscapes, not many others on the trail. Got a little busier as the day went on but not by much.

I loved it ... my wife and kids (11-15) didn’t. Their main complaint was that the the uphill and downhill portions were pretty unrelenting — not many breaks or even switchbacks. Seemed more difficult than moderate to them. I was carrying a 30 lbs bag, wearing pants and good boots, and while I was definitely sweaty, I wasn’t winded. It’s beautiful. Tons of fresh, edible mushrooms this time of year, if you’re into that (and 100% know what you’re doing), especially on the south side of the loop, which appears less traveled. The falls are beautiful. Didn’t see much wildlife, outside of some spiders and huge millipedes, and only saw a few other people the whole time. I’ll go back, but probably on my own.

Really pretty waterfall, hard coming back up the 1000ft incline.
