The Pocket Campground is a 2.6 mile loop trail located near Armuchee, Georgia and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and camping and is best used from April until November.
Do not follow the blue flags to the right. That is NOT the trail. Actual trail should be marked better and cleared. A little overgrown. But area is still beautiful. Although we hiked 3 miles in the wrong direction we still had a good time.
It was ok
The trials could be marked a little better.
great campground but trail is very over grown but easy. probably be perfect in early spring or fall
one of the best kept secrets in Nwga. cheap camping. the trail isn't extremely difficult but the trailhead could have been better marked.
Ditto on what Tabitha said. The April 2016 controlled burn hit almost every area of the trail except for the creek, bog, and pond areas. It was interesting to hike the loop and see a forest after a burn, but it might not be everybody's cup of tea. Not sure how long it will take for the forest to regrow from it. The campground has nice picnic areas and camping areas however.
We went hiking with our cubscout pack. The Forrest recently had a controlled burn so we didn't get to see much wildlife. Nice to get out and enjoy being together. Tip: Bring lots of water and a snack for the trip.
