This is the full north-bound route of the Appalachian Trail from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Katahdin in Maine. Most thru hikers start their trips at Springer Mountain sometime between late February and mid April. Of the 25% of who finish the thru-hike, most reach Katahdin in Maine between August and early October. Baxter Park in Maine closes for the season on October 15th so plan to hike Katahdin by that date at the very latest.
