Note: Dogs allowed on rim trails only, not the Gorge Floor, Sliding Rock Trail, and Hurricane Falls Staircase. Dogs will not be able to complete this entire loop. The Tallulah Gorge is breathtaking! These trails are very well marked and stairs are very sturdy. The views of the waterfall are breathtaking. To visit the Gorge Floor, free permits (limited to 100 per day) are required and can be obtained at the Interpretive Center on the day of your visit. This allows you to go past the bottom of the stairs and onto the gorge floor, just outside the pool at the base of the waterfall. From there, there is a path through the woods and rocks that takes you down the river following all 3 waterfalls.

Confusing on what we actually did but visited all lookout spots, hiked down and up to total 1000 steps to see suspension bridge and saw gorge floor but thanks to covid no permits. Stairs are strenuous!!!!

We actually did this + the permit to the gorge floor (would highly recommend for any experienced hikers), the gorge floor permit hike to the Sliding Rock Falls does not appear to be here on All Trails. But you can get a same day permit from the Visitor Center (they sell out quick most mornings) when the gorge floor is open, which depends on the dam, rain fall and season. It’s amazing, but challenging in some areas, requires wading up to your waist in some spots. But the falls at the end and the swimming hole is totally worth all the stairs and short but strenuous scramble out.

One of the best! You need lot of experience with your balance and sense it. I had to help few people to get across river even though I don’t know who them and It is sure tough but I’m glad I help them so they will enjoy their experience walk loop. Still so much fun! But the last climb to the Dam are the most difficult your legs will lock up, just take your time. Have lot of fun with my dad and my 2 sisters :)

This trail is absolutely beautiful. It is however very strenuous and hard. Not marked, please wear proper footwear and bring LOTS of water and snacks. Also it’s not recommended to being small children under 8 on Gorge floor.this hike can be very slippery too on rocks. There are times you have to get in the water. It is worth all the pain though it is absolutely breathtaking. Gorgeous view and one of the best and strenuous hikes I have ever been on. Highly recommend if you come prepared!

This trail was one of the harder trails I've ever done. I got the Gorge Permit and went along side the river down to Bridal Veil Falls and the Sliding Rock. No trail or markers once you go through the gate (where you need a permit to get in) and you climb over rocks and cross the water twice, once at the beginning and then again at the end to go up Sliding Rock trail. Very challenging and should be a hard rating for sure, especially going back up on the 0.25 mile trail with the 500' elevation change over large boulders. $5 fee and Sliding Rock gorge permit required. Would recommend, but definitely need to be in shape and bring lots of water and some snacks if you're going to go the long way.

Should probably be a hard rating

This trail is actually the Sliding Rock permit trail. Moderate is an understatement. This trail is hard and fun as can be! The primitive trail is requires a lot of scrambling and the trail out of the Gorge is a very strenuous .25 mile up.

Absolutely stunning view well interpreted with multiple vista points that show incredible water features against a hard rock gorge. Lots of steps but your reward are these great views and a swinging bridge - highly recommend!

Amazing scenery and an incredible workout down to Hurricane Falls and back to North and South rim

HArd but fun and worth it! Wear good hiking shoes, chavos would’ve been a good idea but did good with my hiking boots. Wear light clothing and don’t carry to much if u don’t have to. Take time to enjoy the waterfalls. Very challenging hike but very fun! I wouldn’t bring small children.

crowded and highly manicured. I personally prefer backcountry trails so it wasn't really my cup of tea, but I can see how it could be a nice short trail for families as long as they can handle all the stairs. The bridge is cool, we would have liked to make it all the way to the floor but they weren't giving out permits that day.
