Note: A permit is required to do this full loop, as it reaches the gorge floor. As of October 2020, the park is not issuing permits. Hikers can still do the portions of the loop along the rim trails. Please see the park website for more information: https://gastateparks.org/TallulahGorge This popular route offers incredible views of the Tallulah River Gorge, several waterfalls, and beautiful Georgia forest. The uphill portions are enough to get most hikers sweating, as you go down into the gorge, and then back up. For animals' safety, pets are not allowed on the gorge floor, Sliding Rock Trail, and Hurricane Falls staircase to the suspension bridge. Leashed pets are welcome on rim trails.

The trail is well marked and heavily trafficked. There are a minimum of 700 steps to the Gorge floor. I would not recommend for pets if you are going to suspension bridge or gorge floor, the stairs have metal grates and will be tough on their paws. It was a great hike with the family. Beautiful views.

The suspension bridge was cool, and there are many beautiful views from the various ‘lookouts’. Lots of steps to the bottom (and back up!), but it was well worth it. Well maintained trail.

It was a great little easy hike. My husband and I did this one yesterday. The steps down to the gorge floor weren’t bad at all. A little slick with wet leaves but totally doable. Would 100% recommend. I would skip look out #10. Nothing really to look at.

Absolutely awesome! There is a good amount of stairs but nothing difficult and it is very much worth the views.

Gorgeous fall day! The trees are in their autumn glory this weekend. Did the stairs and suspension bridge, but the gorge floor is closed right now. We'll be back to conquer it soon! Great cardio workout on those stairs.... Lol

The waterfall was beautiful, but getting there was strenuous. For reference, I am in fair shape.

Awesome views of the autumn colors. The trail was packed near the parking place, but around it was nice and comfortable to keep the social distance. The stairs are strenuous but is a small part of the trail. Worth the effort!!

Started at the conservation point, walked down the stairs to the bridge and then down to the falls base (not floor since the passes are closed) and back up the way we went down then right towards inspiration overlook. Incredible track and great work out. Oh yeah and did it all with a 3, 5, 6 and 7 year old! Kids LOVED it!

Like everyone holy stairs! Beautiful views throughout all of the walking but be prepared for the incline. Some of the trail requires to cross the highway so be careful!

Walking

This is a walk, not a hike. The trails are very well groomed, but there is garbage EVERYWHERE! I can not believe how much trash honestly, it makes me sad. The trees are so overgrown that only a couple of the lookout points actually have a view, maybe the views are better in the winter? There is only one lookout that is even close to the water. We were expecting more.

This trail is barely marked ... we had a weird adventure. I wish it had been labeled correctly. It’s also quite strenuous on sliding rock. Straight up/down.

These are established walkways for the most part and include an intense amount of steps that are leg blasters. Bring water. The views are decent, but only at the established lookouts which get crowded.

With Covid-19 the stairs and suspension bridge are one way so make sure you take a left at overlook #3 towards overlook #2.
