This is one of the most popular hikes in the Atlanta area. The hike is good for all ages. There is ample parking at the base of Stone Mountain. The hike is entirely on smooth granite rock. Although there is a route defined, the "trail" can be very wide, with stands of trees dotting the rock face. There is also a gondola that takes visitors to the top for a small fee.

Challenging, particularly for a new hiker! Heavily traveled. Beautiful views. Will definitely visit regularly.

Crowded, but also beautiful and interesting. Turn left out right to enter in the Cherokee Tail turns this in a much more interesting trail. Is too short otherwise.

It was a little hot when we went, but the path is wide with lots of good places for resting (without being in other people's way). It was looking to rain, so we took the gondola ($12/person) down and the free shuttle back to the trail parking lot. Recommend looking at other beautiful sights around the park as well (such as the covered bridge and memorial lawn) to make the most of the $20 entry fee.

Very busy, but enough room for all! I would do this again!

Very hard in direct sunlight of summer. Better for cooler weather.

It’s definitely worth the view once you get to the top. Great for beginners, busy on the weekends.

Lovely hike. Stick to the sides of the stone face trail for something more challenging and in the shade! Parking was a surprise at $20, so plan to make a day of it with other attractions!

I loved seeing so many people hiking up the mountain!

Its a giant rock! what's not to love?! It is super steep at some points (they even put in railing you can grab onto cause it gets slippery too). But the view at the top is so cool. I just love the fact that it's a giant rock tbh. There were alot of people, but there's so much space it's not really a bother.

We couldnt find parking near the walk-up trail so we ended up parking near the play ground and taking the Cherokee trail up the side of Stone Mountain which eventually meets up with the Walk-Up Trail. It was pretty steep going up, but it was a fun hike and had great views at the top.

Great trail for beginners and family. Wide open trails for the good amount of traffic and plenty of places to stop and sit. Steep at the top, but does have a handrail for the last fifty feet but like always, the top is worth it.

Too steep to run continuously up, had to take some walk breaks. Busy spot, fun run with more distance available around the base of mountain and through park. Pretty views, wildlife, parking available. $20 to get into the park

Beautiful views. Great workout. The bit near the top is steep, but manageable. It can be crowded. Thankfully, the trail is wide.

I had a wonderful time hiking this trail. When going down the mountain if you walk a little to the right just in the wood line it is easier on your knees.

Fun and unique trails. Well maintained park and beautiful views all along the way! Some of the trails can get a little busy, so just be prepared for that, especially towards the top of Stone Mountain. Still well worth it!

It is very challenging but I felt like Jesus wanted to meet me here so I did even if I was scared that the stone is slippery because it was pouring on my drive to the location. Anyway I just kept hiking up like a penguin by using the outer edge of my foot to support each step. I didn’t slip and the rain cloud started to be swept away and I got a chance to see the sun while it was slowly setting. You have almost a 360 view at the very top. Coming down a solid white line is steeper, it needs more faith, trust and persistence. The breaking yellow line would still be slippery if it rained so still be careful.

This was our first trail hiked!!! Awesome, memorable experience. Gorgeous views the whole hike up. The trail got pretty steep towards the end but not too difficult. My 9 and 7 year old did this hike very easily. Would definitely recommend for family vacationing.

Great way to start the day, made it up in time to watch the sunrise.

Quite the workout during the last 1/4 way up. Busy trail with lots of people, but trail is wide most of the way so you aren't likely to be stuck behind someone very long. Beautiful Vista views from the top.
