Sarah's Creek Road is a 9 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Clayton, Georgia that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
30+ campsites are spread out. picnic tables, fire rings, tent pads, vault toilets. Small creek runs by most campsites. No established hiking trails. access to some sites requires crossing creek - which depending on water level, might require a higher profile vehicle.
Ran this trail two days ago in beautiful, weather I didn't camp but camp areas looked good. They are spread out in small groups and each group had its own set of bath rooms as the do in primitive campgrounds. .The farther you travel up the trail, the more difficult it gets. You can reach most camp sites in most any vehicle. To go all the way you will need 4-wheel drive at least. I was in a stock Jeep Gladiator and had no problem.
This was a very easy off road trip. Except once you get to the end and try to veer off the road a bit, it gets pretty steep, rocky crosses for a non lifted vehicle. We did end up taking a turn and headed for Ducks Nest Gap, all the way to the end at Wilson's Gap. Wilson's Gap was a lot of fun off road with the family! we have a GX470, stock, with just mud terrain tires.
Did one of my first creek crossings here! I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk with a 3 inch lift and mud tires. So stock Jeep Wranglers should have no problem with this trail. Great trail for beginners too!!! I have done about 6 or 7 different trails around Georgia now and this is definitely one of my favorites!!!
Second off-road adventure and the day was a hit with the family! There were several roads closed but plenty open to spend a few hours exploring. We found Kell Cemetery & 3 creeks to cross, but decided 'no' on the 3rd b/c the Jeep in front of us went up on 2 wheels, not ready for that yet!!! Roads are narrow with sharp (very high) cliffs in a few spots; had to backdown a long narrow road once when traffic came in the opposite direction. Overall awesome fun and we will be back (with a trail map)!
Definitely a trail to be humbled by. Very rocky, muddy and very fun. the sights where amazing the water clear. I think part of the trail however was closed. Still very awesome
Drove up in a Tacoma with a 3" lift and 32's. No issues with the creek crossings or the Rocky parts of the trail. Went as far as the road went and camped next the the water. Beautiful and private in spots. Will return again to check out more!
Very fun trail. I have a Crown Victoria with off road tires, but stock height. did perfectly fine, however there are multiple routes. I can't remember exactly, but you can get to the peak, very pretty views. A few creek crossings, but they are very shallow and can be done in any vehicle. Definitely recommend taking your dog and going on a couple of hikes.
I would most definitely come back to this trail after some upgrades such as a lift and a winch. Riding through the creeks was fun but the second one I had to back out of because the rocks were to slick for 2wd and the path up was a bit too narrow for my liking. It looked like no one had been on that side of the trail in a while. I got threw majority of it in my stock height 2wd Liberty with 2 extra passengers.
