BackpackingOver grown

Magical but misleading! Attempted this with my guy and our pup over 3 days, 2 nights to test out our backpacking skillz. We really loved it, very wild and fun! One of my favorite GA hikes so far. It seemed like we found the perfect campsites and water stops exactly where we needed them. Beware: the mileage listed is wrong, we estimated closer to 30+ miles total. We ended up stopping and camping our second night at a group spot just before the final section to the Rabun summit. Ran out of time and steam to complete the last handful of miles to the summit. Hoping to finish it out some day. Pup went absolutely gaga for this one with all the splash opportunities at the beginning and the winding ups and downs towards the middle. Pro tip: add the extra 2m trip to the top of Pinnacle Knob and back, absolutely spectacular view and campsite up top!

Running

Excellent trail with two waterfalls and a mountain overlook. You must take the Pinnacle Knob Trail to get to the overlook (ad it is not on the Bartram).

Backpacking

This trail is easy to follow but has a few minor maintenance problems (rectangular yellow blazed trail). The small trees over the trail are not bothersome; however, there are a few small spots that I was worried about ticks that I had to walk through. I don't know how much these areas may grow from now until the fall but I might would take precautions just in case. Back to the more important stuff--the trail is hard in length and moderate in climb. There won't be any mountain views, except for one, on this route due to the leaves on your way up/down at this time. The views at the top are excellent. This is my first hike in GA and I doubt if all of the views are like Rabun Bald. I solo backpacked and stayed at the top. There are a few good spots to do this if you desire. There are several different ways to access Rabun Bald if you want different options.

This trail is amazing. I loved it , it is very clear and well marked. There are a few places of going up that were burning my legs but not bad. The last push is the hardest but sooo rewarding.

Not that hard of a hike. The hike has alot of pretty scenery and the summit view is a stunning 360 degree platform. Definitely worth the view
