Good trail on Mother’s Day afternoon. Very few folks out. Only saw one other hiker. Bathrooms closed due to Covid-19.

phones, tablets, laptops, and televisions, some form of screen time is happening almost 24/7. The cold/heat air conditioning and comfort at home. Stay home Getting out into nature is to unplug all those things and comfort. Go out for a jog or a brisk walk—without your phone!— nature is all about rocks, trees, bugs, cold/hot weather if you ain’t in to that don’t bother stay home safe and sound.

Cracks me up people complain about bugs, poison ivy, rocks and tree roots on a trail. You’re outside in nature what do you expect.

Ticks, poison ivy, bikers who run you into the poison ivy, swarms of bugs, and harsh pricking seeds. Worst section of the Pinhoti. Not kept up or maintained. No view in the summer past the weeds and overgrowth. Not worth it AT ALL. Came home covered in rashes and ticks. Section 7 & 8 by Sloppy Floyd (not in this map) are the only sections we’d suggest.

Lots of poison ivy. Lots of brambles, the kind that hook into your socks, clothes and skin. Note, if you do try this trail, the trail head is easy to miss off of the gravel road.

did a 2 day stretch here in july. 35 miles. we only came across 1 water supply so make sure you pack plenty of water. also depending on where you start finding a camp site cam either be really easy or a nightmare. there are stretches where you just cannot find a flat or safe camp site, and other areas like the clover field we came across(we were shy by .25 mile from this site our first night and if we just spent 10 min more would have found it) that was a page out of the bible, glorious heaven. i would suggest a partner, the trail could be very lonely, very rarely traveled, and i brought a safety device for this reason. all in all i would do this trail again in a heartbeat

The area between Pilcher's Pond and Snake Creek Gap is a nice hike but not very scenic.

I recently hiked section 7 of this trail. Beautiful views. Parts can be rough over all great hike. I couldn't figure out how to do it, but it would be great if someone could post all 31 sections so we could correctly mark the sections we hike. :)
