I hiked this one starting from Coopers Furnace via the connector trail. It’s longer then the west loop but isn’t as scenic IMO, it lacks the rock features you’ll see on the other side. Not a bad hike though.

Beautiful hike, I agree with the moderate rating. Easy trail head access from I-75, free parking with lots of spots. The trail is very clean and clearly marked. I hiked the west loop on an early Sunday morning, great view of the sunrise on the summit and lots of space up at the top. Try going early because it gets VERY busy around 10-11AM.

These are really good trails with lots to see. We did both loops combined with Coopers Furnace trail, it ended up being a 7.3 miles all together.

The trail is clearly marked and there’s a lot to see. The uphill is decently steep and the summit is beautiful. Be aware that the mileage listed seems to be incorrect. It’s closer to 3.9 miles around the loop and to the summit round trip.

Done both loops, this one is significantly better. Less traffic, better views on the way up.

I've done both the east and west loops, the east loop is a better hike in my opinion. Dogs are allowed and my 9 yo black lab had no problem with it. The view from the top is great, you can clearly see Allatoona and there's plenty of room to stop for a bite.
