Awesome hike. The first half of the trail isn’t too strenuous. However, there are parts on the second half that do get tough. It’s hard rating lived up to its name. The view at the top is absolutely worth it. My only complaint was that the trail was not marked well, so use this app to help guide you

I will start off by saying maybe this issue was because of the government shut down and having no forest rangers. However, this trail was being used by squirrel hunters and there were people hunting right off the parking lot for the trail head. WE COULD SEE THEM SHOOTING FROM THE TRAIL HEAD! Needless to say this was a 3 hour round trip wasted because we didn’t feel safe hiking with so many (obviously irresponsible) people shooting that close to the trail.

On top as I type.... trail in good shape, and lives up to it’s difficult rating (but I’m not use to hiking). Would definitely recommend

TOUGH run up! 2.5 to top. 2.5 back down. 4.2 is inaccurate if you follow the neon green blaze (as per Fitbit GPS which is almost pinpoint accurate for distance)

This trail started out pretty easy. Open woods, smooth path and easy to follow. When it starts getting into the incline is where it gets a little more difficult with a rocky path. We went on a Saturday around 11am and by the time we got back to the car it was around 1:30pm the parking lot was packed. We were also hiking with a dog. There were a lot of other dogs, some off leash and on. All and all, great hike with beautiful views. pictures uploaded

A really nice hike! Not too strenuous overall, but there were definitely a few challenging spots. The views from the top of the mountain were gorgeous on a clear, cool December day. Plenty of people on the trail, but it never felt crowded.

Great views during our December hike, while headed up and down, 360 degrees at the top. My only criticism is too few markings in several locations where trail forks, making AllTrails GPS location checks necessary. Be certain to check your location at the top Bald area, and walk the entire loop indicated on the AllTrails App, including towards the rock-faced area on the Northern side...great views at the edge!

It was raining when i went. looked like there would have been a great view on a sunny day. I'll definitely go back though when i can see that overlook.

Very good hike, and absolutely stunning views. It is well worth making it to the top.

Looking up from the parking lot was intimidating, my wife and I joked about doing the winery instead. We are 60+ hikers and don’t give up easily, so up we went, and made it to the top. Apple watch says 5.06 miles, 1542 feet elevation, 3 hours and 19 seconds, including lunch and photo stops. This was a cool November hike, so no wildflowers or leaf colors, but the views were spectacular, well worth the effort.

This is a great trail to hike for beautiful long range views! There are many rock outcroppings along the way. It was rocky and rooty in some places. My girls are experienced hikers, but we were unprepared for this trail. (We didn’t bring enough snacks to keep them happy and energized). LOL! But the views made it all worth wild!

Nice trail. Not all the trail is hard, but there are definitely parts that are a challenge. Met and talked to several really nice people along the trail. Took our fur baby and she did great. So by e to have a challenging trail she can hike with us. Several camp sites along the way with wood already there. We will take the kids next time.

Starting out with a big parking lot with restrooms was so nice! Easy hike up. Gradual incline all the way to the top. We got there at 9:00 am and it was a little cloudy from all the rain the day before. Shocked at the people we saw on the trail. Coming down, we probably passed 50 people heading up. Great place to camp and hike.

Absolutely stunning views. Lots of places to camp on different elevations of the mountain. It’s marked perfectly, and the pay off at the top is so worth the hike.

Did this with the Big Canoe Hiking Club. Lots of fun. Great hike. Took the traditional route. Recommend this hike for the tremendous views. Good memories here for me...was on this mountain 41 years ago as a student in the US Army Ranger School (Class 10-77).

Views were great but its more of a moderate hike rather than a hard one.

Great views!! Difficult trail, recommend hiking poles. Rocks are slippery coming down. Few places knee high rocks to climb. Few narrow trail spaces too. As many have wandered around to get pictures lot of side tails have developed. Stay on course. I would suggest they add more trail markers towards the end close to the overlooks.

A bit of a tough hike but worth it! Amazing view from the top! It was uphill and had some steep parts. Took my German Shepherd with me.
