The trail is only accessible to campers, a detail that ended up changing our plans for the day. Instead of exploring the trail we explored the co-located Fort McAllister Museum (which was awesome!) and will do the trail at a future camping date.

Nice trail once you get passed the first half mile. I'm not sure why but there has been a ton of clear cutting and all the debris and downed trees are still laying around. After you're clear of that area the trail becomes a trip back in time to a prehistoric era marsh going crazy with wild life. My two oldest kids and I had a blast. We saw hundreds of crabs, birds, lizards and even a baby fawn!

A nice local trail approx 3 miles with 2 primitive campsites off the trail. Beware of large mud puddles due to the way the trail is cut through the woods. This mainly occurs after large rain falls. There are several bridges that go over the marsh on this trail. There is usually a large collection of geocaches along this trail that frequently change and are updated. Overall, very nice trail for a leisurely hike through the woods.

we didn't know how wet this trail would be. lots of low areas with deep gullies. We were on street bikes. Definitely needed mountain bikes.
