Walking

Nice for a midday / midweek walk. We had lunch on the rocks out at the end of the point.

Hiking

This trail and hike was a little bit of a disappointment for me. There is no fee to park. The park is home to baseball/sports fields and is just bustling with people particularly near the parking areas and boat ramp. I wouldn’t say the park was dirty but certainly well-used. The hike itself is pretty decent with really good water views especially out towards the end of the peninsula. Also, the peninsula has some elevation changes (they are not difficult) so some of the views are elevated from the water level. My impression of the park and hike would be better if it was just a hiking trail. But the presence of the sports fields just grates me the wrong way. You can’t see or hear the fields while on the hike. But the initial entry of a park often sets the tone for me. So seeing the sports and baseball fields just doesn’t give me the sense of solitude or a trail. Reminded me of Laurel Park Loop in Gainesville— very similar; a decent short hike but the overall surroundings left something to be desired.

Really pretty short hike with lots of variety. Free parking, no open restrooms when I visited.
