Hilltop, Mountainside and Ridgeline Loop is a 5 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Cumming, Georgia that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and running.
Overall a good family hike with nice city overlooks. It can be rocky.
PROS: Decent ~5 mile hike with plenty of elevation changes. In warmer weather, there's decent leaf coverage from direct sunlight. The Park Service has started improving this side of the mountain's rockier trails (kudos to them). No dogs allowed. CONS: There are still significant areas where loose rocks can turn an ankle. But we're hiking - it's not a paved path. No scenic overlooks on this side of the mountain (if that matters to you), but you really should be watching your step and where you're going anyway. Sawnee Mtn is almost always crowded. I mean don't these people have TVs, or good internet at home?
Not too bad. There wasn't a ton of other people on the weekend, but there's not much to see on the trail.
Very rocky, with a lot of loose golf ball to baseball size rocks. Been on the trail before and wasn't impressed but I thought I'd give it another try, thinking maybe since they had done some improvements on the indian seats trail that the mountain side loop might be better. I love steams and views and this trail doesn't really have either. You can get some average views in the winter, but they are non existent when the leaves are on the trees. Not terrible, just very ho hum for me.
It’s a very rocky trail and has lots of pebbles for majority of the trail. May hurt feet if not wearing good shoes and also can slip on pebbles. I found Clockwise is better. But a great workout and loved the peace!!!we went around 2.00 pm so not many people on the trail.
Hike is great and a good enough challenge. The moderate rating is accurate. There are lots of rocks so watch out! additionally, i gave a lower rating because the trail was NOT clean and there were leaves everywhere and it was kinda dangerous. if you have poles, bring them!
Nice shaded trail, beautiful fall colors and some Rock climbing for novices...
Good trail. Apple Maps leads you to Indian Seat Loop parking, but trail head and parking for this trail is at the park entrance across the road.
Good trail with lots of elevation changes. Ankle turning sizes rocks are an issue for about 20% of the trail. Next time will bring poles
