Great trail! Went when it was raining so very slippery but the Falls were beautiful!
Nice falls easy hike. Good for when there is not much time or rain is pending.
This was a nice trail that was doable for my 7 and 4 year olds. My youngest needed help, but was able to walk the whole way. We went yesterday, so it was muddy in some spots, but the trail is pretty well packed. There are a lot of tree roots to watch out for and the trail is narrow which I imagine is hard for two way traffic. We went after the rain, we had it all to ourselves. If you have a choice of driving to the trail head from Blue Ridge or Cherry Log, I strongly recommend coming from Blue Ridge via Aska Rd. It’s all paved road. Coming from the south side, it’s all gravel.
Arrived around 9:40am on a Monday during spring break time and there was only one other car in the parking area. Didn’t pass anyone on the way up or at the falls. Passed many groups on the way back and the parking area was full. If you’d rather not have crowds earlier is better! Beautiful falls, trail was easy to follow, although many of the blazes need to be remarked. There are 3 benches along the way if you need to sit. The terrain was a bit hard for my 7 year old but he’s never hiked mountains before, it’s very flat where we live.
Heavily trafficked, but beautiful waterfall and trail! Fair warning— you will be driving on a dirt, hilly road for a few miles/ten minutes and your car will get super dirty!
Don’t park in the Aska trails parking lot if you don’t have 4 wheel drive. The last part of this trail is just rock creek rd. Your be better off to just keep driving down rock creek rd to the falls parking lot.
Trail was pretty crowded despite light rain. Very muddy and slippery in spots. Not very strenuous and kid-friendly.
Great trail, featuring Fall Branch Falls, but it was really muddy and slippery today. Not too many folks today.
Nice trail for a moderate hike. Not too crowded for a Saturday.
This is a very busy trail on the weekend. Be prepared for a crowd around the viewing platform for the waterfall. Conditions were pretty muddy due to rain the previous day. *NOTE* The Benton MacKaye Trailhead @ Rock Creek Road as shown on AllTrails is blocked by downed trees. Take the route to the left at the trailhead to go around the debris.
