Parked at Byron Reece memorial just past Vogel state park on hwy 19. Lot was nearly full at 10am. Beautiful day for a hike after loads of rain the two days prior! We did a Halloween hike!

Great trail! Had a blast and the view was absolutely amazing! Awesome stone shelter on the summit. Had lunch in the shelter to warm up from the wind. Hiked this trail with five kids Ages 13,11,8,8,4! They loved it too.

we got there at 10am and parking lot was already full, luckily we're able to park at Neel gap. We went clockwise and started with Freeman loop, less rocky/steep to start and much less crowded - favorite part of the hike. overall enjoyable hike

I arrived at the parking area around 6am on a Saturday and it was almost empty, so early is definitely better for weekend hikes. The trail was in great condition, even after rain the night before. Even in the heat of summer, this is a beautiful & not too long or overly strenuous hike, & any minor steepness you endure is well worth it for the views at the top.

Always a favorite though many years since we were here. The parking lot can get crowded. The trail is a mix of sun and shade. Much is very rocky. The climb is fairly steady and steep up. the climb may be difficult with very young children.

Great little day hike, I return here often. Moderate to hard at some points but over all very lovely views at the top.

Woody Gap to Neel's Gap. Bring water If staying at Blood Mountain Shelter. Great views!

I'm rating this 1 star because you can't actually park here. Look for the Neels Gap to Blood Mountain trail for more accurate parking. It's just 1/2 mile further up the road.

Awesome trail. Moderate is a good description. There were a couple of steep sections but overall it was very steady. Halfway into the hike you get to a bit of rocky trails which are a lot of fun. When you get to the top don’t stop until you get to the blood mountain shelter, it’s worth it to see it. Overall great hike. It would be a great hike for kids as well 7-8+.
