Big Rock Nature Trail is a 0.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Chatsworth, Georgia that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Fort Mountain State Park charges a $5 parking fee. You can also purchase an annual pass that is valid at all Georgia State Parks for $50.
It is not every day or every weekend that Fort Mountain gets snow, but it made a nice hike into something special. Easy hike, first downhill, then uphill to finish. You will follow the path to the right away from the creek, but don't worry you are still heading toward the falls.
Nice Forest Hike. 1 small fallen tree. Lots of rocks and tree roots in some places. Trail is narrow in parts. Beautiful smaller cascading waterfall. Large rocky area and trail near small waterfall. Easier Hike
This should be rated easy! .5 mile with a good Vista and a very nice stream/water fall over rock. The 8 mile Gahuti trail over laps the back portion entering at a land bridge and exiting above the falls over the stream (which is the spill way for the lake). The trail is in a managed park and requires a park fee.
awesome waterfall at the end. my dog had the time of her life wading around. very pretty hike and covered.
I started a Big Rock Nature Trail, then I turned left onto the first left to Gahuti Trail. Great hike. you have to cross a couple creeks, scramble over piles of leaves and rocks, and basically enjoy nature. I turned left onto Goldmine Creek trail which has white blazes, then I followed the red-blazed connector onto the lake trail, which has blue blazes.
