Tips

The Atlanta BeltLine is a proposed 22-mile continuous trail circling Atlanta and connecting 45 neighborhoods. Although the full 22 miles isn't built yet, you can still enjoy the BeltLine in sections. The Eastside Trail is now open. The Atlanta BeltLine trails are paved and flat, perfect for the novice bike rider, or even a child on training wheels. Another great bonus for families, there are several playgrounds and interesting stops along the routes to keep kids engaged and entertained. The city of Atlanta is very automobile focused, so to view it from a walking/biking path is an interesting perspective. Many of the neighborhoods the BeltLine connects are some of the most historic in the city and are not easy to navigate between via car. The BeltLine is still new and continuously improving, so expect to see something different each time you visit. Accessibility: The trail surface is paved and typically at least six feet wide. The grade is mostly gentle (all estimated under 5%) so most wheelchair and stroller users will likely be able to traverse this trail.

The Eastside Trail goes from from 10th Street (tip of Piedmont Park) and Monroe Drive to Irwin Street. The path is open to walkers, runners, bikers, skateboarders and rollerbladers.

One of the most romantic places I’ve encountered of late. Must visit the brewery the beer is delicious and I am not usually a bear drinker. The stimuli of sights, sounds and varied people is intoxicating! If only I had heard jazz musicians... it would have been a grand slam!

I enjoy riding down the beltline when it's not so crowded, which is typically during the weekends.

This is a walking trail in the city. Very fun with bars and restaurants along the way. Also very busy with bikers, scooters, walkers, skateboarders, etc.

Fun area of the beltline to walk; however if your dog is easily spooked (like mine) by skateboards and scooters, be warned there are many and they fly by at a fast pace

This is not really a hike, it’s more like a walkway that runs thru the heart of Atlanta. It connects to Piedmont Park and Ponce City Park. It’s winds through breweries, restaurants, parks and shops. People rent scoters and bikes. It’s worth your time for a city experience hike/walk.

Most incredible urban trail there is. The volume and speed of cyclists has gotten dangerous given the high pedestrian traffic. Would recommend in early mornings. You can venture north through the Park and up parallel to Ansley golf club (gravel trail) - this stretch is generally completely desolate.

My husband and I had a great time but I’m not sure if I would be so happy if I was a local. Extremely busy on a Saturday afternoon. You had to be careful as it allows walkers, bikers, and electric scooters that are for rent. People going all different speeds and dogs on long leashes. But there are many interesting spots to stop and have a drink, eat, or listen to music. It is a paved trail but we enjoyed being in the city while still walking a path.
