The Waterfalls Trail begins on a paved section of the park at the main overlook. Parking is available in an adjacent lot. The trail progresses into the canyon on a 40-degree slope. Most of the trail consists of gravel and stairsteps, numbering over 1200 in all. Both waterfalls cascade off sheer faces at 60 and 90 feet, and are among the most beautiful in the state. Swimming and climbing on rocks are strictly forbidden, and regulations are enforced.

The Western Loop trail is a fairly easy trail. Well maintained and marked. Overlooks are beautiful. If you add on trails, bring your water. We actually camped at the Eastern Rim side and hiked from our campsite. We started down the Waterfall trail first before starting this trail. The waterfall trail is nothing but grated steps all the way down. If your dog does not like grates or steps, don’t take them. Our pup has a Ruffwear harness with a handle and we had to carry him the entire way down and back up because his paws were the right size to possibly fit through and get stuck. The two waterfalls on August 10th, 2019 were very low flow. They are popular so there were quite a number of people down there. The Waterfall Trail goes right into the Western Rim loop trail. From our campsite, down to both waterfalls, across the canyon, the western loop and back to the East Rim was just over 6 miles. Round trip.

Loved this trail! Great views and more easy than moderate I feel.

Great trail! Well-maintained and marked. Wonderful views. I chose this instead of the falls because I wanted to avoid the stairs. Someone coming up the trail said the waterfall was sparse. I’ll guess that’s due to the dry weather recently. The Visitor Center is very nice and staff are very helpful. The Overlook area has nice picnic areas and the nearby campground was full.

Great trail, wide and well marked, This would totally be 5-stars if it weren't so heavily trafficked - due to that, there's trash and "noise pollution" the later in the day you go. I did the east side of the loop first, but in hindsight I would start with the west (left) side next time. There's not that much to see on that side so I'd rather do that first and leave the overlooks as my reward on the way out.

Our favorite trail in Cloudland Canyon State Park. Start at the day use parking lot and follow the yellow blazes. This is a lollipop trail. On the “stick” part, you will do a little scrambling over large rocks and small boulders. Just watch your feet. At various points, you can look across the canyon to your starting point. When you get to the end of the “stick” and begin the loop, if you go right, you cross a bridge immediately. Then you travel along the rim with the canyon on your right. There are several scenic overlooks -most with rails. You will see signs on your left indicating cabins. . If you go to your left when you bring the loop, you travel through woods on relatively easy trails. This is a hike for good shoes and sharp eyes. Roots and rocks are challenging. Lots of ups and downs. Get a map at the park check in office. The trail is very well marked with yellow blazes.

Great trail. Good overlooks with beautiful views. No waterfall unless you take the waterfall loop. But still worth it!

I loved this trail! We went mid summer but it really was not too hot due to all of the tree coverage. The trails are easy to follow and color coordinated, and it offers several spots to stop and enjoy a beautiful scene. We also saw many cool bugs and some wildlife, including a copperhead snake so watch your step. Poison ivy and sassafras are pretty common along the trail as well. There are two optional waterfalls that are well worth visiting for a nice, cool place to take a break. Cabin 7 is along this trail and very convenient if you’re wanting to stay over night.

Great hike but not very dog-friendly. The stairs are metal grates and not good for paws. I regret not having booties for my dog.

Love this trail - it has one of the best spots to stop and realize how small you are. Generally the hawks are hunting and it is stunning to watch.

We loved this trail! It had beautiful views. It was about a moderate hike- not too difficult but not super easy. You start on the trail until you get to the loop. Where the loop starts- the left side isn’t as pretty. But suggest doing that side first- it’s only about 0.5 miles that we didn’t like. But the rest of the hike was beautiful. We headed down to the Cherokee falls after we hiked.

Quick well kept trail with a lot of other people around. Good for a day hike if you don’t mind crowds on weekends; better on weekdays during school if you can get away then.

Our first time here, It was a great hike, only trouble we had was the trial markings which were good with the exception that once you did the completed loop you need to pay special attention where to start the back track to the parking lot. Trail not clearly marked exit here. After hiking over 3 hours we were getting tired so we missed it, kept going which would have made us loop again, we could tell we were starting over but the park map was very confusing. Fortunately we ran into some hikers that started the same time we did but in the opposite direction, we asked them and they had this app. At the time I didn’t have it so hopefully next hike this app will help avoid the extra mile and a half that we did

My favorite trail yet (though my experience is limited). The trail was very clean and easy to follow along. Not too difficult but it still provided a good workout. We also ventured off the trail to visit the beautiful waterfall. Highly recommend... Great Saturday hike! (Kid friendly).

Beautiful hike! We did the 5 mile loop from the main trailhead, then added the waterfall trail on our return to the parking area. Makes for a 7.2 mile hike with those combined. Beautiful views, Forrest, streams, and waterfalls. The 600 steps aren’t as bad as they may sound, lots of landings between ascending to rest a moment on the way back up. Really beautiful and look forward to see more of the park as the week goes on. The Lords hand was and is certainly at work here in His creation.

We accessed the trail from the walk- in camping area. Loop plus the little bit to and from the camping area was 3.22 miles.

We started from the walk-in campsite and went north on the trail. Beautiful views and and moderate incline for the first 1/3 of the hike. After that, we followed the rim at a fairly consistent decline for the remainder of the hike. Hiking the West Rim Trail in April before the trees leaf out gives way to some spectacular views.

The west rim loop had beautiful views and great rock formations. It had moderate traffic for a weekday. The trail itself was easy enough.
