You hike along the path but there is a fence that blocks you from walk along the edge.

Parked at Ridge Manor trailhead and followed the River Trail for 5.3 miles to Crooked River Campsite. There we met Dan, the campsite host, who was very friendly and hospitable. After hydrating we returned to the trail for the walk back to Ridge Manor. Dry, flat and easy terrain. With the exception of the camp host, we did not see a soul. Nice quiet morning in the woods.

many ticks. don't forget your bug spray!

Excellent hike! Started at Ridge Manor trailhead, followed River trail sign. Had our three dogs with us, so we were worried at first at lack of shade for first half mile or so, but did as another suggested and took the blue loop turn. Good choice, as it took us eventually to the river which was beautiful! Then headed to the right on orange, which eventually led back to the river trail. Good amt of river walking, and a couple benches along the way. Even saw a huge heard of wild boar (pigs?) ! Was freaky and cool all at the same time as we didn't want our dogs to be their lunch! Overall, great hike, would def go back!

Great trail. We took another's advice and took the blue loop after the 2nd bench and it was great. Highly recommended.

Started this trail at the Withlacoochee State Trail, Ridge Manor Trailhead. It is signed with yellow hash marks until the trail hits the river and then follow the red hash marks along the Withlacoochee River. There two benches facing the river along this portion of the River Trail. The second bench is located at a wide sharpe turn in the river with a excellent scenic view. Instead of going out and back, I opted to return to the Ridge Manor Trailhead via by taking a left just past this bench onto the Blue Loop. The intersection is signed Blue Loop and is a bit shorter distance as opposed to retracing your steps back to the aforementioned trailhead.

I thought there would be more of the trail next to the river. instead it was on the other side of a fence through some trees. we still went through to see the river lol. It was a good trail though my son saw a deer and we saw some deer tracks and scrapes. all in all we had a great time.
