Quiet trail amongst the city. Hiked on a Friday around 3 pm and the place was empty. Very serene trail with a mix of concrete walks and sand. Looking for a relaxing hike this is a good one!

A fairly long trail for south Florida and exhausting in hot sun. the beginning is a concrete path that leads to a wooden bridge and walkway where I saw a man fishing. Large bass. And sizeable fish hang out in depressions/craters that they created by fanning fins. These depressions are like little fish suites in a fish hotel. It was here we saw an alligator floating in the water. Easy to miss. Looks like a log. The boardwalk ends and a grassy dirt and sand path winds around grassy lake. Occasional fisherman. Some little fish here and there. Birds. Not a lot of wildlife or interesting flora. Overall it is a dull day. Good for exercise though if you like to jog or power walk. Was here several months ago not long before corona.

Only initial half a mile of shade. Then you can hike around two lakes w a nice observatory in the middle where you can see gators, fish, beautiful birds. Safe to take w children but I wouldnt take the long south loop w little ones. It can be hot be prepared but it was quiet and very natural unpaved. You can bring a canoe for lake canoe trail and theres catch and release fishing from canoes and cayacs and fishing shore near parking lot.

Pros: nature trail portion is secluded, lots of wildlife. Cons: not much shade, smells like the dump sometimes. Come back and explore side trails

Sandy weedy path around a lake, lots of bird life. Although there are signs posted alligators live here, and I saw at least a dozen paths from the water to the bank I did not spot any. With those paths so close to where you are walking, I was a bit unnerved. Did not do the whole 5 miles took a connecting path back, and it still took me an hour and 20 minutes. If you get here between 730 and eight, you can have it done before the sun is overhead at 10

First to Review

I enjoyed this trail. It’s close to my house which makes it nice. Will use for practice grounds for bigger hikes. Not much shade so if it’s hot bring sunscreen and enough water. The main trail parallels the lake in the middle which houses many alligators. Just keep that in mind when walking close to the lake especially if you bring kids with you. Overall I enjoyed it and will return.
